I. Introduction of Cemented Carbide
 

Cemented carbide possesses extremely high hardness, strength, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance, earning it the reputation of being the "teeth of industry." It is used to manufacture cutting tools, drills, and wear-resistant components, and is widely applied in fields such as military, aerospace, mechanical processing, metallurgy, petroleum drilling, mining tools, electronic communications, and construction.
 

 

II. Cemented Carbide Cutting

Cemented carbide inserts are hailed as the "teeth" of modern industry and one of the most essential tools in metal cutting. They are manufactured by shaping cemented carbide materials into specific geometries using powder metallurgy techniques for use in various cutting applications.  
 

 

III. Main Characteristics of Cemented carbide Cutting
 

1.Extremely High Hardness and Wear Resistance: The hardness of the inserts can reach 86~93 HRA at room temperature (approximately 69~81 HRC). Their wear resistance is 5 to 80 times that of high-speed steel, allowing them to stay sharp for extended periods.

2.Excellent Red Hardness (Hot Hardness): They maintain high hardness (about 60 HRC) even at high temperatures of 800~1000°C. This permits high-speed cutting (with cutting speeds up to several hundred times that of carbon steel), significantly enhancing machining efficiency.

 

3. High Strength and Good Toughness: With high transverse rupture strength, they can withstand impact and vibration during cutting, reducing the risk of chipping and ensuring stable machining.
 

4. Good Chemical Stability: Their corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance maintain stable performance when cutting certain difficult-to-machine materials, extending tool life.

 

 

IV. Wide Applications:
 

1. Electronics and 3C Industry: Used for PCB board trimmer blades (V-CUT blades, component lead cutters) for processing circuit board component leads. These require sharp edges, wear resistance, and rust prevention.

2. Mold Manufacturing: Used for roughing and finishing various molds. Cemented carbide inserts can efficiently machine hardened mold steel, enabling "turn-grinding" processes.
